At CPRE Gloucestershire, recognising and celebrating success is at the heart of what we do. Through our long-running Project Awards and our new Richard Lloyd Countryside Champion Award, we highlight the people and projects helping to protect, enhance and champion Gloucestershire’s countryside.
But behind every successful Awards scheme is a team of dedicated judges whose expertise, insight and enthusiasm help identify those deserving of recognition.
Our judges play a vital role in selecting our Award recipients. Year after year, we are inspired by the quality of nominations and the remarkable efforts being made to protect, enhance and champion our county’s countryside and communities.
For many years, our CPRE Gloucestershire Project Awards have celebrated projects that demonstrate excellence in countryside conservation, community engagement, environmental improvement and the sensitive enhancement of Gloucestershire’s unique character. The success and reputation of these Awards owe much to the knowledge and dedication of our judges, who generously give their time to ensure every entry receives careful consideration.
This year is particularly special because we have launched the Richard Lloyd Countryside Champion Award, a new Award established in memory of our much-loved former Vice Chair, Richard Lloyd. Richard was a passionate advocate for Gloucestershire’s countryside and a longstanding supporter of CPRE Gloucestershire. This Award has been created to recognise individuals whose commitment, achievements and dedication embody the values that Richard championed throughout his life.
With the launch of the Richard Lloyd Countryside Champion Award comes a new judging panel. Bringing together a range of experience and perspectives, they have the important task of selecting the inaugural recipient from what we expect will be a strong field of nominations. Their role is not simply to choose a winner, but to celebrate the individuals whose hard work, leadership and commitment are making a lasting difference to Gloucestershire’s countryside.
This month’s blog post is also the perfect opportunity to remind you that nominations for the Richard Lloyd Countryside Champion Award close soon, at 9am on Monday 14 September.
If you know someone who has gone above and beyond for Gloucestershire’s countryside, now is the time to put their name forward! Whether they have worked to conserve nature, improve local green spaces, support rural communities or champion sustainable land management, we want to hear their story. The winner will receive a £250 cash prize.
And if there is a project that deserves recognition, nominations are also open for our long-established CPRE Gloucestershire Project Awards. From community initiatives and restoration schemes to projects that enhance the local environment, the Awards celebrate the many ways people are helping to protect and improve our county.
