About
We are CPRE Gloucestershire, the countryside charity. Our mission is to protect, promote, and enhance Gloucestershire’s countryside so it can be enjoyed by everyone, now and for generations to come.
We champion and celebrate Gloucestershire’s countryside, shaping practical solutions for the sustainable and responsible use of land and standing up against decisions that threaten nature, landscapes, and rural communities.
From influencing planning policy to advocating for affordable rural homes and celebrating environmental excellence through our Awards scheme, we work to ensure that people and the countryside are at the heart of every decision.
As part of a national CPRE network, with a group in every county, we combine deep local knowledge with national impact.
With your support, we can achieve even more.
Action for our countryside
There are many ways we help protect our countryside, such as:
- Holding government to account for meaningful environmental action
- Planting hedgerows and restoring habitats to boost biodiversity
- Scrutinising planning applications to ensure development happens in the right places
- Championing rooftop solar instead of solar farms on green fields
- Campaign for the prioritising brownfield land for development over our precious green spaces
- Recognising outstanding environmental projects through our annual Awards
Our three year plan
The years 2026 to 2028 will mark a period of celebration and renewal for CPRE Gloucestershire.
In 2026, CPRE nationally celebrates its centenary; one hundred years of championing and protecting the English countryside. You can find out more about our history below.
Just two years later, in 2028, CPRE Gloucestershire will mark its own centenary, reflecting a century of dedication to safeguarding and enhancing the landscapes, towns, and villages that make our county so distinctive.
