The High Blue Hill Route is the first in our Centenary Way series, a collection of walks across Gloucestershire marking CPRE’s national centenary in 2026 and building towards CPRE Gloucestershire’s centenary in 2028.
Two further routes are planned for 2027 and 2028, taking in the Vale and the Forest, and inspired by F. W. Harvey’s much-loved poem ‘A Song of Gloucestershire.’

Step outside and discover the beauty of Gloucestershire’s countryside on the Centenary Way.
The High Blue Hill Route is a waymarked circular walk of approximately 5 miles (8km), taking in some of the Cotswolds’ most picturesque landscapes and villages, including Notgrove, Salperton and Hazleton. With gentle hills, sweeping views and plenty of rural charm, it’s the perfect way to experience the countryside that CPRE has been working to protect for the past century.
The walk starts and finishes just outside Notgrove (What3Words: clarifies.recitals.destroyer), takes around 2½ hours to complete, and is of moderate difficulty. After your walk, why not relax and refuel at The Nuttery at Notgrove?
