Our new walking route across the High Blue Hills of Gloucestershire
From green belts and National Landscapes, to hedgerows and the planning system, CPRE has stood up for our countryside for a century.
The Centenary Way celebrates this legacy by inviting people to experience the countryside at the heart of our work.
As you walk our new route in the Cotswolds, we hope that you enjoy connecting with the Gloucestershire countryside we are so passionate about protecting.

Walk information
A circular, waymarked walk of moderate difficulty through the High Blue Hills of Gloucestershire taking in the Cotswold villages of Notgrove, Salperton and Hazleton
- Distance: ~5 miles/8km
- Time: ~2.5hrs
- Start & end: Just outside the village of Notgrove (What3Words: clarifies.recitals.destroyer)

The Centenary Way Route Series
The High Blue Hill route forms part of our wider Centenary Way series — a collection of walks across Gloucestershire celebrating CPRE’s centenary in 2026, and leading up to CPRE Gloucestershire’s own centenary in 2028.
Alongside High Blue Hill route, two further walks are planned for 2027 and 2028 in the Vale and the Forest, inspired by F. W. Harvey’s well‑known poem ‘A Song of Gloucestershire:’
North, South, East, and West:
Think of whichever you love the best.
Forest and vale and high blue hill:
You may have whichever you will,
And quaff one cup to the love o’ your soul
Before we drink to the lovely whole.
