CPRE tree funding awarded to Stroud Town Council

Our tree fund provides grants to councils and community groups for tree planting projects. We’re delighted to see progress with two of the projects that have received funding.

Stroud Town Council applied to the CPRE Gloucestershire tree fund in April 2020 for two tree planting projects; one at Uplands playing field and the other at The Leazes playing field.

At Uplands playing field (top picture and below) the project will create an area of mixed woodland with some hazel coppice.

At The Leazes playing field the project will create a tree and shrub area on a previously botanically-poor grassland.

The two projects in Stroud have now been completed, although sadly without the community involvement that Stroud Town Council were planning, because of Covid-19 restrictions.

Funding is available through CPRE Gloucestershire for Parish Councils and community groups in Gloucestershire east of the River Severn for tree planting to mitigate the impact of ash dieback.
