Our Project Awards celebrating the outstanding initiatives that are making a real difference across Gloucestershire’s countryside and communities.
From nature restoration and community housing projects, to village shops and local services, the Awards celebrate the projects helping our countryside and communities thrive.
With more than 100 projects recognised since 2007, our Awards showcase inspiring examples of sustainability, innovation and positive local impact.
Project examples
Project examples could include:
- a community shop, recreation facility, village hall or heritage project;
- buildings which fit their setting, are good examples of sustainable construction and efficient in the use of energy;
- a new nature reserve or habitat with public access;
- a community orchard, re-establishing old varieties of fruit;
- water management projects such as wetland creation, reedbed sewage treatment, or a sustainable drainage system;
- projects that encourage access to local countryside

Project categories & criteria
Projects should fall into one or more of the following categories:
- Well-considered buildings; new, restored or converted
- Innovative use of natural resources, including land and water
- Projects developed by or for the local community
- Projects responding to the challenge of climate change
All nominated projects are assessed against a defined set of criteria, and those that meet the required standards are selected as recipients by a panel of judges.

Once you’ve read our ‘categories and criteria information sheet’ above, you’re ready to make a nomination!
Simply click the button below to complete the online nomination form. After submitting your nomination, you’ll be asked to send us a selection of project photographs to support and confirm your submission.
Anyone can make a nomination – we just ask that you have the permission of the project owner before submitting a nomination.
NOMINATIONS FOR OUR PROJECT AWARDS ARE OPEN ALL YEAR ROUND, with submissions reviewed on a rolling basis by our judging panel. Projects that receive an Award are recognised and celebrated at our annual Awards Ceremony each autumn.

Our annual Awards Ceremony is generously hosted by Elmore Court, an outstanding Gloucestershire venue. We are delighted to hold the event in the Gillyflower, itself an Award recipient for its sustainable craftsmanship.
The estate is also home to Rewild Things, another Award-recognised project that restores biodiversity and offers guests sustainably crafted treehouse accommodation from which the rewilding can be enjoyed; making Elmore Court a proud double recipient.
