Event: ‘Our Future: Energy, Infrastructure and Landscape’
A partnership event between CPRE and the Wildlife Trust is taking place on Tuesday 25th March at Hawkwood College, Stroud.
The UK government has set out a mission to achieve a fully decarbonised power system by 2030, with a commitment to double onshore wind, triple solar power and quadruple offshore wind capacity. This will require constructing extensive new renewable energy and grid infrastructure to power businesses and homes, but how can we do this while protecting nature, landscapes, and communities’ right to have a say? How can we make sure that we take communities with us and balance the use of land needed for energy infrastructure with that needed for farming, housing, climate solutions and nature’s recovery.
Speaking at this event:
- Roger Mortlock – Chief Executive of CPRE, the Countryside Charity. Roger was the Chief Executive of Gloucester Wildlife Trust for 9 years and previously he worked at the Soil Association where he was Deputy Director and Chair of the Food for Life Partnership.

- Craig Bennett – Chief Executive of The Wildlife Trusts. Craig was formerly CEO of Friends of the Earth where he refocussed the organisation to empower communities to take action on the climate & ecological crises.
