Centenary

Celebrating 100 years

In 2026, the Campaign to Protect Rural England (our national charity) mark 100 years of protecting England’s countryside.
Two years later, we will celebrate our own centenary; championing Gloucestershire’s countryside since 1928.
Between these milestones, we’ll be hosting a series of inspiring projects and events — all celebrating our countryside and the communities who care for it.
These years are more than a celebration; they’re a call to action. Join us in our mission to Love Your Countryside:
  • Protect what matters
  • Restore what’s been lost
  • Reconnect with the places that sustain us all

Our history

For a century, CPRE has helped shape the countryside we know today – from campaigning for the first Green Belts and National Parks to protecting hedgerows and dark skies, and stopping fracking.
