Planning support

Our experienced team works across the county to review and, where necessary, scrutinise planning applications.

We make representations when proposed development risks causing significant harm, whether due to the unsustainability of its location or its impact on the landscape.

How we work

Our local planning work is carried out by our dedicated and passionate volunteer District Committees across Gloucestershire:

  • Berkeley Vale
  • Stroud
  • North Cotswolds
  • South Cotswolds & Tetbury
  • Forest of Dean
  • Cheltenham, Gloucester & Tewkesbury
Each Committee focuses on local planning matters but also collaborates with the wider team on county‑wide issues.

Please note that our District boundaries do not always align with local planning authority boundaries.

Supporting you

We do sometimes receive requests from members and supporters to support them in objecting to a planning application.

We are proud of our reputation for objectivity and soundness in land use planning. We can and will only offer support where it is compatible with our own evaluation and justifies use of our limited resources.

Submitting land use planning representations can require a substantial input of time, not just in preparing our input, but also in assessing the large volumes of documentation submitted by others.

We are fortunate that our District Committees are made up of volunteers with a good degree of background knowledge and expertise to ensure that our views are taken seriously by planning authorities and, where relevant, by a planning inspector.
