The Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE)’s Gloucestershire branch is calling for Forest of Dean District Council to stand firm against developers who want to build hundreds of houses on green field sites across the Forest.

A national campaign to identify derelict sites and vacant land in towns and villages that could be suitable for new homes has come to Gloucestershire.

The Joint Core Strategy, which proposes building over 30,000 homes in Gloucester City, Cheltenham Borough and Tewkesbury Borough by 2031 is flawed.  It fails to prioritise the use of derelict and vacant sites, gives no guarantee for the provision of essential infrastructure and affordable housing and poses an unnecessary threat to the Green Belt, according to the Campaign to Protect Rural England’s (CPRE) Gloucestershire Branch.

The Campaign to Protect Rural England is calling for the Forest of Dean to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
