We are delighted to share with you the news that an application to develop a truckstop on an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) close to Cirencester has been dismissed on appeal.

Thanks to you, CPRE Gloucestershire was able to contribute a significant amount to fighting the appeal from the developer.

In March this year, we wrote to all our members asking for your support to fight the threat to a Gloucestershire AONB; we were delighted that many of you responded with donations.

CPRE Gloucestershire took a close interest in the proceedings with CPRE Gloucestershire District members attending and speaking at the appeal, working alongside Cotswold District Council (who had refused the original application) and with CARG (Cotswolds AONB Residents’ Group), the local group who took the lead to raise the necessary money to fund the appeal team.

Our grateful thanks to those of you who both gave money and expertise towards saving this AONB, and thereby establishing a precedent that these vital areas of conservation should be shielded from development.
