CPRE Forest of Dean District: Chairman Anne Prufer
The Royal Forest of Dean is bordered by the River Severn to the south, the River Wye in the east and the Herefordshire county boundary to the north. The Forest of Dean is ancient woodland with a mixture of hills, valleys and ponds. It has ancient iron works and standing stones. The Forest is a magnet for tourists offering woodland walks, rides and canoeing. Industry is thriving in Lydney which is seeing something of a regeneration at present.
