CPRE Gloucestershire Awards

CRITERIA FOR THE CPRE GLOUCESTERSHIRE AWARD

The following general criteria will apply to all categories.

• All projects considered for the Gloucestershire Award should involve improvements to the rural environment, whether natural or built.
• Projects should demonstrate sustainability in their construction, use and management.
• Projects should be visible from public places.

Innovation in achieving these criteria will be particularly welcome.

Projects will be assessed by a panel of judges.

Public, private, commercial and partnership projects are eligible. There are three different categories of project, each with their own specific criteria:

a) Buildings: new, restored or converted

• new buildings must be appropriate to their setting
• restoration projects must respect the integrity of the original building
• building conversion projects must demonstrate sensitivity to historical practice in design and construction

b) Natural environment

The project must involve one or more of the following:

• enhanced biodiversity
• improved public access whilst safeguarding the natural environment
• improvement in the appearance of the locality
• increased learning opportunities

c) Other community projects

The project must involve:

• wide community involvement
• improvement to the provision of facilities for the community
